Our Mission

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, happy, and prosperous life. Hope For Greater Good (HFGG) is a non-profit organization that strives to empower women and children around the world. We provide critical help that sustains family health and wellbeing, opens access to education, work, and economic prosperity.

Our Vision

To be a prominent institution dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by underprivileged women and children worldwide. Through our charitable, religious, educational, and scientific endeavors, we strive to empower them with education and interest-free access to capital to enable them to embark on a path towards economic independence. Our focus also extends to alleviating hardships faced by orphaned children and single mothers in Asia, the United States, and Africa.

Sharmila Jamaldeen, President

Sharmila Jamaldeen works in the nonprofit sector as a community service coordinator, in multiple geographies worldwide, with over 15 years of experience.

She runs several online educational institutes catering towards development of women and children. She has been the Operations Lead for various fund raising events that focuses on providing food, shelter, clothing, and other essential services to needy families, the elderly, women, and orphans.

She is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others, and believes that everyone has the power to make a positive impact on their community. She is passionate about working with others to create a better world, and is committed to using her skills and experience to bring about new and innovative programs to make a positive impact on the lives of others worldwide.

Prior to dedicating herself full-time to the non-profit sector she was an Information Technology professional in the U.S. with several Fortune 1000 companies.

Abdul Azeez Mohammed, Treasurer

Abdul-Azeez Mohammed is a business executive who has served in broad functional areas including technology, finance and operations. He has experience working in 27 different industry segments, including sustainability sectors such as solar, wind, hydrogen and electric vehicle charging.

He is currently employed by Covanta and has served in senior roles at GE. He has lived and worked in 7 countries worldwide and 7 states in the USA.

He holds both a doctorate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras. Through his family trust he supports women’s empowerment and children in need. He currently resides in Wayne, NJ.

Abdurrahman Khalidi, Secretary

Abdurrahman has been part of the Hope for Greater Good since its inception in 2021. Prior to that, Abdurrahman occupied several positions of leadership at the Islamic Center of Capital District (ICCD), AnNur Islamic School, and was a founding member of the Muslim Community Center (MCC) in Albany New York.

He also serves on the Engineering advisory board of American School of Sharjah in UAE and University of Tripoli in Lebanon. His full time occupation has been concentrated on Waste to Energy, Power as well as Oil & Gas industry.

He received his BSc degree from American University of Beirut in 1990, Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University in 1996 and a PhD from Cornell University in 2002.

Adel Omrani, Board Member

Adel has been part of the Hope for Greater Good since its inception in 2021. Prior to that Adel served as the president of the General Electric Volunteers Organization for the MENA region for 2 years. While living in Cincinnati Ohio, Adel occupied several leadership roles at the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati ICGC, including the president of the Weekend school. 

Adel’s full time occupation interests have been concentrated on Engineering, Waste to Energy, Power as well as the Aviation industry.

Adel received a BS, MS and a PhD ABD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the University of the Tennessee Space Institute.

Rafeena Muthuvappa, Board Member

Rafeena Muthuvappa has been a proud resident of Albany, New York for numerous years. After retiring from a public sector role focused on addressing customer inquiries, she now has the privilege of dedicating her time to serving the community.

Over the past two decades, she actively contributed to various fields, always striving to give back to the wonderful community. She is thrilled to be a part of HFGG, as it presents yet another opportunity for her to extend her support and assistance.
